KeelWit studies Toyota Kuruma’s energy efficiency

Using Enefgy’s smart metering as a service, KeelWit Technology has performed an energy audit in the two main facilities of this well-known Toyota dealer in Madrid. Based on the last 12 months consumptions of water, gas, propane, diesel and electric power and after a deep analysis of both facilities and the equipment installed in each of them, and with the real-time information on smartmeters’ readings provided by Enefgy’s web based platform, KeelWit has presented several energy management advices to be undertaken to reduce energy costs. Certain modifications in employees working habits jointly applied with investments offering 6 to 24 month paybacks would allow savings of up to 30k€ (water + fuel + gas + electricity) and over 50 tons of CO2 emissions, equivalent to the emissions coming from 14 vehicles, 23 buildings or the carbon capture of 1.295 new trees being planted. Both the savings arisen and the possibility to set a number of energy efficiency and environmental indicators that might guide the dealers and establish a benchmark amongst dealer networks make KeelWit confident in the extension of this same philosophy of project in other dealers. Environmentally concerned dealer networks and brands would be likely to get involved in this kind of projects that allow savings whilst contributing to sustainability. KeelWit attends the XXII automotive forum organised by Instituto de Empresa, concerning competitiveness in the automotive business in Spain

Sponsored by Volvo Cars Spain, Instituto de Empresa organizes this yearly meeting where professionals discuss about the present and future of the automotive sector in Spain. This year’s main topic for discussions and round tables was the necessary competitiveness for the business survival in an economic crisis cycle. The very low profitability of the different companies involved along manufacturing, distribution and commercialization of cars is pushing energy cost to gain weight in the industry’s concerns and key factors for survival. This topic is remarkable in a car dealer’s P&L, as water, fuel, gas and electric power consumptions have a big stake in overall running costs. Aware of this, KeelWit has decided to launch a pilot project focused in the improvement of the Key Energy Efficiency Performance Indicators in a car dealer, following several attendants’ request for a holistic approach on energy consumption in their business. José María Cancer gives a talk in the conference room of the Spanish Institute for Intellectual Property Protection (OEPM) about ip protection as a strategic driver in innovative technology based companies (EIBTS)

OEPM invited KeelWit Technology to take part in their conference program “Meetings with the other part”. These lectures search a better understanding for the patent examiners within the organization, of the real difficulties that EIBTs face in their daily work. KeelWit Technology invested 38,2% of its annual turnover last year in R&D obtaining 1 PCT, 3 Registers of Community Designs and has currently several patents on the way. These figures made KeelWit eligible for its participation in the program, as a leading company among small SMEs making notorious efforts to launch innovative ideas and technologies in different sectors. The conference was followed by a long Q&A session from the audience, where over 40 examiners wanted to know more about KeelWit’s strategy, and how it selected a certain number of ideas, to promote them and take them to a business case stage, and the difficulties found to do so. A special focus was made on the scarce support found to do so, despite the existing institutional tools and organizations supposedly devoted to help SMEs, including the OEPM. Isaac Prada and José María Cancer lecture in the electric & hybrid vehicle course organized by ASEPA and INSIA

ASEPA (Asociación Española de Profesionales de Automoción) has prepared a training course dealing with the special characteristics of this type of vehicles, under the supervision of INSIA (University Institute of Automobile Research). Participants are automotive industry professionals linked to electro-mobility as well as several amateurs of electric cars. José María Cancer (co-founder of ASEPA) and Isaac Prada explained the main characteristics of Light Electric Vehicles, its market trends and types of users as well as how KeelWit designs and engineers this kind of Pedelecs. A special chapter was devoted to specific legislation and dynamic and EMC tests needed for the homologation of the units. The session was enriched with the possibility for participants to handle components and materials used in the development of Last Mile Delivery tricycles engineered by KeelWit. The good results of this course both in terms of attendance and students satisfaction will surely encourage ASEPA to repeat it in the future, being aware of people interested in the contents that could not attend the course in this...

Keelwit Technology lectures in CIEMAT’S conference room within the seminar organized by ANSYS IBERIA to show best cases in the use of their sw in the energy industry

ANSYS Iberia invited KeelWit Technology to lecture on the use of ANSYS Fluent for energy efficiency projects in industrial plants. Isaac Prada and Ignacio de Vicente presented the improvement of the performance of a combined cycle plant through the design of an optimized exhaust gas pipe for its turbine. KeelWit’s solution allowed to reduce pressure drop linked to the geometry of current’s exhaust duct by 86%, eliminate turbulence and associated internal erosion and maintenance costs as well as an improvement of the overall efficiency of the process through an easier and better thermal insulation of the new exhaust tube. Over 70 attendants from the nuclear, thermosolar and generation plant business attended the seminar, being able to listen to SENER, TERMOPOWER, CIEMAT and KeelWit Technology explaining their use of ANSYS as a basic tool in their projects.
