KeelWit Technology develops a solution to prevent flashover problems in substations located in the desert for one of its clients
Due to the geographical situation of the substation, the ambient air has a high concentration of sand and salt. This high degree of pollution started generating flashover problems in the substation. Different solutions were studied to avoid the problems generated by the deposition of sand and the high environmental salinity. On one hand, several CFD 3D simulations were performed to observe the behavior of air in the surroundings of the complex. These simulations were focused in the design of different elements to aerodynamically deviate the wind from the surfaces to protect. On the other hand, a coating with silicone materials over insulators was studied, reaching the solution for the...8 Sep 2014
Madrid Fly, in which KeelWit Technology is shareholder, gets the building permit needed for immediate construction of a skydiving vertical wind tunnel in Madrid
After more than 2 years trying to clear out all the doubts of Las Rozas de Madrid’s Town Hall concerning the project, due to its novelty and lack of benchmark in Madrid, Madrid Fly, company whose engineering team and partner is KeelWit Technology, obtains all the necessary permits to start building this same week the biggest skydiving arena in Spain. This lapse of time has been devoted to improve the aerodynamic design of the flying area and to optimize the fans’ performance as well as to enhance the cooling system needed for the high-speed circulating air. These sport facilities shall be used both by professional flyers and general public, wanting to experiment without risks the feeling of free flying, floating embedded in a vertical air flow ascending at speeds from 160 to 300 km/h depending on the flyer’s expertise. With a maximum speed of over 300 km/h and room for up to 8 skydivers at the same time, the design and construction of such a facility represents a great challenge for any engineering team. Madrid Fly’s wind tunnel shall become a true benchmark in skydiving world as it has been designed and built step by step focusing on engineering solutions for the design weak points of the competitors’ technology worldwide. In order to do so, KeelWit Technology has worked side by side with Alberto Fuertes, several times world cup champion in many skydiving categories. Alberto has helped launching the majority of the skydiving facilities in Europe in the last 8 years. He shall be running the facility once it is open in 2015, being also a partner of Madrid...31 Jul 2014
Energy efficiency certificates results after 12,000 m2 audited by keelwit technology
KeelWit Technology has made its own statistics about the results obtained after auditing the energy efficiency of 12,000 m2 of homes and office buildings since Energy Efficiency Certificates became compulsory in Spain in June 2013 for any property sale or rental. The vast majority of buildings audited (87.8% as shown in attached pie chart) obtains an “E” level in a scale from “A” (representing an optimal energy efficiency) to “G” (meaning a building where a great part of the energy used for heating and cooling is wasted due to inappropriate building materials or old HVAC equipment). Only 7.8% of the audited buildings get a poor result such as “F” or “G”. When this same analysis is performed with nationwide results obtained by all auditors, results are much worse, showing 35% of the buildings obtained “F” and “G” levels, as seen in the attached pie chart. The main reason for this difference is that the biggest part of KeelWit’s audits has been performed in high standard private homes and office buildings of recent construction, belonging to Promora, a real estate agency specialized in the sale and rent of luxury homes, chalets, townhouses, office buildings and mansions in the capital city’s most coveted neighborhoods. When both charts are compared we can easily understand the need to carefully choose the house to rent or buy as well as the need to gradually improve the energy efficiency of existing buildings, especially due to their age when looking at the nationwide average. There is a need to increase public knowledge of the relevance of energy efficiency results. In order to do so, regional governments...18 Jul 2014
