Energy efficiency certificates results after 12,000 m2 audited by keelwit technology

KeelWit Technology has made its own statistics about the results obtained after auditing the energy efficiency of 12,000 m2 of homes and office buildings since Energy Efficiency Certificates became compulsory in Spain in June 2013 for any property sale or rental. The vast majority of buildings audited (87.8% as shown in attached pie chart) obtains an “E” level in a scale from “A” (representing an optimal energy efficiency) to “G” (meaning a building where a great part of the energy used for heating and cooling is wasted due to inappropriate building materials or old HVAC equipment). Only 7.8% of the audited buildings get a poor result such as “F” or “G”. When this same analysis is performed with nationwide results obtained by all auditors, results are much worse, showing 35% of the buildings obtained “F” and “G” levels, as seen in the attached pie chart. The main reason for this difference is that the biggest part of KeelWit’s audits has been performed in high standard private homes and office buildings of recent construction, belonging to Promora, a real estate agency specialized in the sale and rent of luxury homes, chalets, townhouses, office buildings and mansions in the capital city’s most coveted neighborhoods. When both charts are compared we can easily understand the need to carefully choose the house to rent or buy as well as the need to gradually improve the energy efficiency of existing buildings, especially due to their age when looking at the nationwide average. There is a need to increase public knowledge of the relevance of energy efficiency results. In order to do so, regional governments...

KeelWit studies Toyota Kuruma’s energy efficiency

Using Enefgy’s smart metering as a service, KeelWit Technology has performed an energy audit in the two main facilities of this well-known Toyota dealer in Madrid. Based on the last 12 months consumptions of water, gas, propane, diesel and electric power and after a deep analysis of both facilities and the equipment installed in each of them, and with the real-time information on smartmeters’ readings provided by Enefgy’s web based platform, KeelWit has presented several energy management advices to be undertaken to reduce energy costs. Certain modifications in employees working habits jointly applied with investments offering 6 to 24 month paybacks would allow savings of up to 30k€ (water + fuel + gas + electricity) and over 50 tons of CO2 emissions, equivalent to the emissions coming from 14 vehicles, 23 buildings or the carbon capture of 1.295 new trees being planted. Both the savings arisen and the possibility to set a number of energy efficiency and environmental indicators that might guide the dealers and establish a benchmark amongst dealer networks make KeelWit confident in the extension of this same philosophy of project in other dealers. Environmentally concerned dealer networks and brands would be likely to get involved in this kind of projects that allow savings whilst contributing to sustainability. KeelWit attends the XXII automotive forum organised by Instituto de Empresa, concerning competitiveness in the automotive business in Spain

Sponsored by Volvo Cars Spain, Instituto de Empresa organizes this yearly meeting where professionals discuss about the present and future of the automotive sector in Spain. This year’s main topic for discussions and round tables was the necessary competitiveness for the business survival in an economic crisis cycle. The very low profitability of the different companies involved along manufacturing, distribution and commercialization of cars is pushing energy cost to gain weight in the industry’s concerns and key factors for survival. This topic is remarkable in a car dealer’s P&L, as water, fuel, gas and electric power consumptions have a big stake in overall running costs. Aware of this, KeelWit has decided to launch a pilot project focused in the improvement of the Key Energy Efficiency Performance Indicators in a car dealer, following several attendants’ request for a holistic approach on energy consumption in their business.
